As the nation’s leader in advancing roadway safety infrastructure, ATSSA is committed to connecting public agency professionals with the latest innovations, technologies and best practices shaping the industry. ATSSA’s 57th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo, Feb. 5–9, 2027, in Long Beach, California, brings together transportation leaders, manufacturers, contractors, engineers and roadway safety professionals from across North America and around the world to learn, network and explore solutions that improve roadway safety.

Traffic Expo is the largest exhibition of roadway safety products and services in North America, featuring innovations in traffic control, pavement markings, work zone safety, signs and signals, protective equipment, attenuators, guardrail systems, message boards, vehicle safety technologies and more. Attendees have a unique opportunity to discover emerging technologies, meet industry experts and identify solutions that can support their agencies' safety goals.

Public Agency Scholarship program

ATSSA offers scholarships to public agency officials to attend the 2027 Convention & Traffic Expo. Scholarships include full Convention registration, approved lodging accommodations, and financial assistance to help cover eligible travel expenses.

Preference will be given to applicants who:  
  • Are active ATSSA public agency members (firm or individual)
  • Serve as key decision-makers within their agency
  • Are active in their local ATSSA chapter
  • Work in traffic safety, roadway safety or work zone safety
  • Are speakers at ATSSA's 2027 education sessions
  • Are first-time scholarship applicants

Marty Weed Engineering Scholarship program

In honor of long-time ATSSA member Marty Weed, the ATSS Foundation awards two scholarships each year to emerging public agency engineers to attend the Convention & Traffic Expo. The scholarship provides a valuable opportunity for early-career professionals to expand their industry knowledge, develop leadership skills and build connections within the roadway safety community. Applicants who do not receive a Marty Weed scholarship are still eligible for a public agency scholarship.

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Be employed by a public agency (city, county, state or federal)
  • Be an active engineer, practicing engineer, or have obtained an EIT or P.E. designation at the time of application
  • Have a maximum of seven years of engineering work experience
  • Demonstrate a specialization or strong interest in work zone safety and temporary traffic control

Scholarship recipient expectations

Scholarship recipients are expected to participate in Convention & Traffic Expo activities beginning Saturday morning through the close of Traffic Expo, including committee meetings, education sessions, the New Products Rollout Showcase, the Circle of Innovation and networking events such as the Public Agency Reception and Chapter Networking Breakfast.

Not applying for a scholarship? 

Public agency officials receive additional registration discounts as an attendee.
